Playback Trust
Children Being Children First!
The Playback Trust established in 1998 is an Edinburgh based charity that works with and for children and young people with a range of disabilities and additional support needs. We provide leisure and recreational opportunities for them to have fun, make friendships and actively participate in their community.
SCQF Essential Skills for Employment Awards
Playback Learning provides a range of SCQF Awards at Levels 2, 3, and 4, designed to align with INSIGHT Data Base (Scotland) and the core values and principles of Curriculum for Excellence. The awards enable schools to formally recognise and celebrate the wider achievements of their learners, supporting both individual progression and whole-school improvement.
Learners can access the qualifications through our eLearning digital platform or using published unit booklets, offering flexibility to suit your school’s context. Comprehensive, ready-to-use practitioner guidance notes are provided including unit assessments to reduce staff workload and ensure consistent standards. These awards fit a variety of learning environments, such as schools, training providers, residential care, and college settings.
The Award Units cover a broad spectrum: Rights and Responsibilities, Citizenship, ICT Skills, Developing Confidence, Personal Communication Skills, Preparing for Employment, Recognising Opportunities for Employment, Self-Evaluation, Life Skills, Work Experience, Planning My Future, and Health and Wellbeing. Pupils may choose to complete the full award comprising all 12 units and totalling 330 notional learning hours (equivalent to 33 SCQF Credits)—or select individual units tailored to their learning needs and available time.
To ensure the integrity and effective delivery of the programme, staff participation in a core training session is provided. This supports practitioners’ professional learning obligations and contributes to their ongoing CPD.
These award units offer a robust framework for fostering personal growth and broadening achievement among all learners in your school community.
